​FALL/WINTER Hockey Camps
(Pre-Structured Programs)

Power Plus Hockey Skating runs in-season hockey camps (pre-structured programs) for all levels from novice through to elite. Players are trained according to our proven power skating system. Players can choose among several types of intensive power skating camps, including Power Hour, Pucks & Power, and Try Out Prep. (Note: in-season Team Ice is also available.)

Better skating equals better hockey! Power Hour focuses on skating skills, using a proven system of drills and instruction that improves speed, power, and agility. 

Running weekly, each Power Hour camp serves up six jam-packed sessions. Sessions include 10-15 minutes where the players transfer their new skating skills into hockey drills and scrimmages. 

To make sure that every participant gets ample attention, a 5-to-1 player-to-instructor ratio is used for all sessions.
Initiation Pucks & Power 2020

Hockey skills, plus power skating. Pucks & Power is a weekly program that focuses on basic stick handling, passing, and shooting. Each session includes time for perfecting the player’s skating technique. One session per week for 6 weeks. 
​
To make sure that every participant gets ample attention, a 5-to-1 player-to-instructor ratio is used for all sessions.

Novice Pucks & Power 2020

Do you need to stay in shape for an important try out? If you need extra ice time to prepare for Bantam/Midget AAA, Prospects Cup, Alberta Cup, Under 17, Jr. ‘A ‘or WHL Spring Camp “Try Outs”, just give us a call. 

All Tryout Prep sessions are custom-scheduled. Just call and let us know what you want to focus on, and when. Sessions can run on your ice or ours.

If your group has specific goals or needs, contact Power Plus to discuss the kind of training you're looking for. We'll be happy to custom-design a camp to meet your needs. Whether it's a mini-clinic on stops & starts, a two-week "killer" conditioning camp, or start-of-season player evaluations, we'll deliver a program customized to your goals.

Our instructors are experts at assessing the overall skill level of a group and tailoring the instruction to that level. With your goals in mind, we'll start at the appropriate technical level for the group, and develop solid improvements.

Associations, do you need professional help to evaluate your players? Power Plus will set up sessions, then provide on-ice instructors and evaluators to deliver a professional, unbiased opinion. We will provide:
  • lead evaluator
  • 2 extra assistance evaluators (in stands)
  • 1 on-ice head instructor
  • 1 on-ice assistant.

The lead evaluator will:
  • work with you to determine what types of evaluations are necessary.
  • Depending on your needs, advise you regarding the evaluation format (for example, 2 hour-long skills sessions plus 3 1-hour games) that will best assess all players
  • set up skills and scrimmage sessions designed to cover all aspects of the game
  • Each player can be graded for an individual rating, or evaluations can be done just to help pick teams so that players and parents feel the process is fair.

Evaluations will include the following skills and abilities:
  • Skating
  • Stick handling
  • Shooting
  • Passing
  • Checking
  • Hockey sense
  • Team work
  • Attitude

Player Levels: Novice-Midget/Junior
These off-season sessions are delivered in two 5-day blocks or as an optional 5 day half-program. Power Plus's own system of progressive drills will help to improve every aspect of your hockey skating performance—technique, speed, power, and agility. You'll also master special conditioning drills that will increase your strength, power, and stamina.

10-Progressive Sessions are available from Novice through to Junior level. Full equipment is required.


All sessions are held at the Coca-Cola Centre.

Next Camps: July 27-31, 2020

Player Levels: Bantam/Midget/Junior
High intensity skill development sessions designed to improve a dynamic range of hockey skills including skating, stick handling, shooting, and passing. All sessions challenge athletes to improve their skills while participating with a high level of speed, intensity, and commitment to improvement. 
These sessions work best with 2 goalies; so goalies, book early!

All sessions are held at the Coca-Cola Centre.

​Player Levels: Initiation/Novice-Midget/Junior
Head into tryouts with confidence. Each day of 45/45 Conditioning includes: 
  • 45 minutes of power skating, conditioning, and core stability training
  • 45 minutes of high tempo hockey skills, drills, and 4-on-4 scrimmages
  • 45 minutes of hockey-specific, high-intensity, off-ice group training
  • These sessions work best with 2 goalies, so goalies, book early!
45/45 + 45 Conditioning Camps are available from Novice through to Junior level.

RINGETTE

​The skating skills needed for ringette are identical to ice hockey skills. Power Plus will deliver custom power skating programs for ringette players of all ages and skill levels.
