Meet Our Great Team of Power Skating Instructors!

Every one of Tina Caron's power skating instructors has top-notch hockey skills and years of hockey success. They know exactly what it takes to excel at the game.

All our instructors were taught power skating by Tina Caron—this is why they understand the Power Plus training system from the inside out. They're living proof of what Power Plus training can help dedicated hockey players to accomplish!

Tina Caron

Name: Tina Caron

Jean Bourbeau

Name: Jean Bourbeau
Birthdate: December 13, 1983
Hometown: Bonnyville, Alberta
Achievements: Jean played 3 years of Alberta Junior Hockey for the Grande Prairie Storm. In 2001-02 he won the Storm Hustler and Most Improved Awards. In 2002-03, he won the Hustler award again. Jean won the AJHL Championship in 2004. He has played for CIS Maritime Division in Fredericton, N.B. and the Odessa Jackalopes (Central Hockey League). He is currently with the Elmira Jackals.

Tanya Morgan

Name: Tanya Morgan
Birthdate: September 1, 1990
Hometown: Wembley, AB
Achievements: Tanya played minor hockey in Wembley up to Pee Wee, then moved into Grande Prairie Minor Hockey’s female system. In 2004, at 13, she played in the Alberta Winter Games. For three years, Tanya played for the Northern Alberta Allstars in Edmonton, and travelled with them to Europe. In 2005, Tanya joined the MJM Female Midget Storm of the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League. She's currently in her 4th year with the University of Calgary Dinos. This is the Dinos' third year playing in the CIS and Tanya is Team Captain this year. She is also is pursuing a Kinesiology Degree, majoring in Mind Sciences. She has been a student of Power Plus since 2002 and has 6 years coaching experience with Power Plus.

Name: Dennis Rix
Birthdate: Aug 5, 1989
Hometown: Grande Prairie, Alberta
Achievements: Dennis played four seasons with the Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL. He was named Most Improved Player in 2008 and led the Storm to the league championship in 2009. Dennis was all-star selection in 2010. He currently plays for Michigan Tech.

Kira Sonnenberg

Name: Kira Sonnenberg
Birthdate: December 7, 1992
Hometown: Sexsmith, Alberta
Achievements: Kira played Minor hockey in Sexsmith and in the Grande Prairie Minor hockey female system. She participated in the 2006 Alberta Winter Games and the 2007 Team Alberta Challenge. For her Midget years, Kira played for the Grande Prairie Female Storm team in the Alberta Major Midget Female hockey league (AMMFHL). She made the AMMFHL All-Star team in 2009 and 2010 and was voted "Player of the Game" for the 2010 All-Star Game. Kira is currently in her second year with the University of Calgary Dinos and is pursuing a Science degree. She is a former student of Power Plus and has two years of coaching experience with Power Plus and Black Elk Hockey Camps.

Jordan McTaggart

Name: Jordan McTaggart
Birthdate:
Hometown: Grande Prairie, Alberta
Achievements: Jordan played all his minor hockey in Grande Prairie. He played for every GPAC team and was the "Unsung Hero" in the 2010/11 season for Midget AAA. Jordan has been a student of Power Plus for over 5 years and has now worked for Power Plus for over 3 years. He currently plays for the Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL.

Tyson Ness

Name: Tyson Ness
Birthdate: April 10, 1993
Hometown: Grande Prairie
Achievements: Tyson played his minor hockey career in Grande Prairie, receiving the Rookie of the Year award in Midget AAA. At 16, he played 12 games for the Jr. A Storm before being injured and finishing out the season with the Midget AAA. After playing 2 years of Bantam AAA and playing in the 2008 Alberta Cup tournament, Tyson was drafted by the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL in the 7th round. In 2010, at 17, he moved to Red Deer to play at the next level. In his rookie season he put up 14 points, and is currently in his second year with the Rebels.

Kacey Funk

Name: Kacey Funk
Birthdate: December 11, 1988
Hometown: Debolt, Alberta
Achievements: Kacey played for the Female Midget AAA Storm for two years and also made an appearance at the Alberta Winter Games. In 2006-07, she played for Red Deer College in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. Kacey played for the University of Manitoba Bisons, who won bronze at nationals in 2008, were Canada West Champions in 2009, and were Canada West silver medallists in 2010. Kacey was an assistant captain with the Bisons for 2 seasons. She has been a student of Power Plus since 2002 and has 4 years coaching experience with Power Plus. Kacey has a degree in Kinesiology and is certified by Twist Conditioning in BC, where she has now gone to work. Congratulations Kacey, and we'll miss you! God Bless! - Tina

Shelby Robinson

Name: Shelby Robinson
Birthdate: July 5, 1990
Hometown: Beaverlodge, Alberta
Achievements: Shelby played Minor hockey in Beaverlodge until her second year of Bantams. At 13, she played in the 2004 Alberta Winter Games. In 2005, she began her rookie year with the MJM Female Midget Storm of the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League as a second year Bantam. She's completed her fourth season wearing the C with the Midget Storm. Shelby led a team to gold in the 2010 Arctic Winter Games. She is also an accomplished swimmer, medalling in the Alberta Summer Games and in numerous Provincial competitions. Shelby continues to compete, and coaches the Beaverlodge Swim Club during the summer. Shelby is currently studying at GPRC. She has 3 years coaching experience with Power Plus.

Hometown:
Achievements: Jenna grew up playing hockey, ringette, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. She completed all levels of CanPower through Cypress School of Skating with Gay Dubeau, Course Administrator of CanPower. Jenna played with the Medicine Hat Midget ‘A’ Hawks for 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons. She took gold with the Sunny South Pride in the 2002 Winter Games, and also took silver while playing ringette in the 2000 Winter Games. Jenna is a Certified Personal Trainer with Can Fit Pro, and the owner of Tri Fit Training in Fort St. John. She has 1 year coaching experience with Power Plus and 2 years of coaching experience with Minor Hockey and Ringette. She's NCCP Development 1 certified (in progress) and holds a Respect in Sport Certificate.

Name: Craig Priestlay
Hometown:
Achievements: Craig was the Edmonton Ice Scholastic Player of the Year in 1997-98. In 2004-05, he played with the Allan Cup Champion-winners, the Thunder Bay Bombers. Craig has been an on-ice instructor since 1998, and in 2006, he began his first season with Power Plus in Kamloops. Craig has a degree in kinesiology and a Bachelor of Education, both from Lakehead College in Ontario. He is the Head Instructor at Superior Stride Power Skating.
